I stumbled upon this old note today. (I am currently doing a huge data consolidation.) This really brings back memories from 2011. I was in my mid 20s and had spent my first year in Bangkok. I had a challenging move from Singapore. I moved for the purpose to grow the business and my entrepreneurial ventures more (well that’s what I told myself).
I haven’t seen this Dream list in years. I was young, wild eyed and a dreamer. Am I still? The younger version of me. Let’s see where we are. The brackets are updates of what happened and where we are now.
- To be able to own a super car, ie my Aston Martin. (I remember walking around show rooms and couldn’t pull the trigger on what I believed was a liability especially with the high car tax in SE Asia. Also, does it show my maturity at the time?)
- Being able to do whatever i want and when i want, irrelevant of financial constraints. (In the making.)
- Learn to fly a plane. (Funny enough, I put this back on to my list during Covid.)
- Have property all over the world, London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong etc (Yes-ish, in a couple cities but not a property empire.)
- Learn languages – become a polyglot, French, Thai, Chinese, Spanish etc (Noooo =/)
- Create multi-million dollar generating business (Yes)
- Be able to trade FX and other markets confidently and make money at will (Yes, especially in 2015… but then priorities and unexpected life changes happened.)
- Travel the world, explore, discover, South America, Asia etc (Asia – yes, South America – no)
- Become a low profile international multi millionaire money making business man (Yes, but… ironic I have this blog.)
- Be like Chris Tell & co and conquer the world (I’m mutual friend’s with him now. It’s funny how life pans out.)
- Learn wing chun (They call it, yuan fen 缘分. I will always cherish those moments of training on the old school rooftops in Hong Kong. 谢谢 si fu ko.)
- Have a spare minimum of 10 million USD in my bank account (Shows my maturity level and thinking at the time?)
- Live like James Bond (Daniel Craig) _ (Shows my maturity level and thinking at the time?)
- Be more confident, speak my mind and stand up for myself (Yes)
- To not be scared of the dark (Yes)
- Bench press my body weight (Yes)
- Do 100 push ups non stop (No)
- Fly business class at minimum all the time, no more coach! (Yes. I remember and appreciate the days of flying budget. Thank you AirAsia, Jet Star, Tiger Air! I do still fly budget / coach, depending on the requirements and convenience. It was nice to finally have the option of choice.)
- To be able to control my mind, (ie remove negative thoughts) _ (In the making, this is an interesting journey.)
- Swim with dolphins (No, but do sharks count?)
- Road trip in Europe (Partly, but not the full trip I wanted… in the making?)
- To be able to keep a clear mind, ie meditation (At one time, yes… especially in 2015 and 2016.)
I left the list raw, no matter how “silly” some of the goals were 🙂 It’s nice to be able to look back and see changes. How you have grown and the challenges that brought you to different paths and adventures. I should create another dream list, that was my last one (from what I can remember, I even forgot about this one.)
